Pineapple Trainwreck Cocktail Recipe

Pineapple supposedly makes some amorous things taste better. I don’t know about that, but as I said, if you need a drink that sets up a mood, this is it. Garnish with a cherry and see if one of you can tie a knot with the stem (always good information to have about someone you are going to be with). This recipe comes from a great publication I highly recommend if you enjoy your cocktails – Imbibe.

Pineapple Trainwreck Cocktail

1 1/2 oz. aged rum
1 1/2 oz. fresh pineapple juice
3/4 oz. spicy ginger syrup (see below)
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 dash each Angostura and Peychaud’s bitters
Ice cubes

Tools: shaker, strainer

Glass: Old Fashioned

Garnish: skewered sour cherry and a pineapple leaf (optional)

Combine all ingredients and shake with ice. Strain over fresh ice cubes into an Old Fashioned glass and garnish.

For the ginger syrup: In a large sealable container, add 3 1/2 oz. of granulated sugar to 4 oz. of fresh ginger juice. Stir until sugar dissolves, add a small splash of vodka (optional, it acts as a preservative), seal, and keep refrigerated.

You should find this refreshing and mood setting. Please, drink responsibly.
